Material Making for Spoken Language Workshop

  • 6001 West 16th Avenue Lakewood, CO, 80214 United States (map)

The child’s total absorption and re-creation of language between birth and age six is one of the true miracles of human development. Spoken language is the foundation for this development and a key element in the child’s acclimation to their culture. Children absorb language very quickly! It is therefore the never-ending work of the Primary guide to create and maintain rich and varied spoken language materials. As teachers, we take on this daunting task because we realize how important it is to quench children’s thirst for language. Participants in this workshop will discuss the progression of spoken language exercises, how to manage a collection of language cards, and the preparation of the adult in offering spoken language. Each participant will create a set of language cards for their classroom and leave with new resources for enriching their spoken language lessons.
